T-Mobile Sidekick 4G Android Phone Review

T-Mobile resurrects the Sidekick, adding 4G to its trusty keyboard, Android OS and 3.5" touchscreen.



1.The Sidekick 4G is slimmer than we remember.
2.The screen pops up to reveal the keyboard, which is just as good as we remember.
3.The keys are widely spaced and have a nice click to them.
4.The Sidekick 4G also includes the number row and a lot of symbols, making it one of the best keyboards we've used.
5.The new 4G features an Android OS and a touch screen, which is a definite improvement.
6.The Sidekick's touch screen is just as responsive as other Android phones, which means there might be bit of a lag.
7.Samsung also added new widgets and themes unique to the Sidekick 4G, which add to the personality of the smartphone.
8.The only strange detail about the interface is the location of the buttons: the home button is at the top right, which can become annoying.
The Sidekick is almost as fast as the iPhone or Evo: when starting apps, it fell just a little behind the iPhone.
9.Either way, the 4G Android phone was just as fast as we expected.
We did notice that the browser was really slow, especially when loading Flash.
10.The Sidekick comes with a 3 megapixel camera with no flash and a front facing camera for video calling, both of which work okay.
11.The rear facing camera is surprisingly good in normal light but since it doesn't have a flash, the low light pictures turned out mediocre.
12.The front facing camera works just like it should.
13.The Sidekick also only has SD video recording.
14.The 4G speeds are amazing for a phone this affordable. We got download speeds of up to 8 megabits per second, which is really good.
15.T-Mobile covers over 200 million people with its 4G network.
